Jalore: Festivals have special significance in Rajasthan, and Kajari Teej has its own unique place among them. This year Kajari Teej will be celebrated on 22 August, Thursday. It is also known as ‘Budhi Teej’ and ‘Satudi Teej’. The festival of Kajari Teej is especially celebrated by women, who observe fast on this day. According to the scriptures, fasting on this day gives married women eternal marital bliss, while unmarried women get their desired groom.

On the day of Kajari Teej, women worship Goddess Parvati. They wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear colorful clothes. After this, they seek blessings from Goddess Parvati for a happy married life and observe a fast. Most women observe a strict fast from sunrise to moonrise, during which they abstain from food and water. However, some women also eat fruits and nuts. Sweets made of sattu have special significance for the end of the fast.

Ingredients of Sattu:
Roasted gram dal flour
powdered country sugar
Desi Ghee
cardamom powder
Chopped dry fruits
Method for making Sattu:

First roast the Bengal gram dal on low flame
When it turns light golden brown, turn off the gas and grind it in a mixer to make a fine powder.
Mix Sattu powder and jaggery well.
Heat ghee in a pan and fry the sattu and sugar mixture in it.
Now add cardamom powder and mix again.
Garnish Sattu with silver work and chopped dry fruits.
